It is a perfectly safe and natural state of mind that we all naturally experience whilst doing everyday things such as reading an absorbing book, watching TV, going for a walk or daydreaming.
It is the meeting of the conscious and subconscious minds with total concentration on the issue at hand.
There is absolutely no risk of being controlled or manipulated. Whilst in hypnosis you will be fully aware of yourself and your surroundings. Your body and conscious mind will enjoy deep relaxation, while your subconscious will be able to focus on the task at hand.
Hypnosis is merely the tool that allows you to deeply relax and therefore benefit from the therapy.
There really is no such thing as a 'hypnotised feeling' - it varies from person to person. But for most people it's a relaxed, lazy feeling in which your concentration and senses become heightened. The normal barriers to your subconscious become lowered, allowing your therapist to help you deal with your problem.
Just about anyone who wants to be hypnotised can be, but it is impossible if you do not want to be, just as it is impossible to make you do or say anything that you do not want to whilst in the hypnotic state.
